Joint project work in the Lippe floodplain

The project “LIFE+ Lippeaue” is an intermunicipal project and extends over the borders of Hamm as well as over the districts of Warendorf and Soest. Five project partners build a joint cooperation in order to guarantee a successful accomplishment of the project “LIFE+ Lippeaue”. Together, a very detailed range of measures is planned and conducted, corresponding reports to permitting authorities are written, numerous preliminary talks and reconcilements take place, cultivation models are developed and informative meetings are organized. These are only some of the tasks managed by the project partners who know each other from the previous LIFE project.

The Municipality of Hamm

As applicant and initiator, the Municipality of Hamm is the lead-managing authority of the project. It is realized by the local authority for nature conservation (“Umweltamt”) on behalf of the mayor of Hamm. The parties responsible for the management of the program are the following:

Lippeverband

The Lippeverband functions as technical project manager and has been in charge of the implementation of the “Lippe floodplain program” below Lippborg up to the confluence of Lippe and Wesel for many years now. The content of this program was incorporated into the conduction of the projects LIFE and LIFE+. The person responsible for the technical project management is:

A variety of optimization measures is planned to be taken in the river as well as in the floodplain area of the action blocks Mühlenlaar and Westenmersch. These project areas belong to the region of the district of Warendorf which undertakes reconcilements and investigations. Your contact:

District of Soest

The action block situated in the very east of the measure area of the project LIFE+ is Heidemühle -located in the district of Soest. The two project partners responsible for project accomplishment in this area are the local district’s authority department for environment, nature and landscape conservation (Abteilung Umwelt- Natur- und Landschaftsschutz des Kreises Soest) as well as the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Biologischer Umweltschutz im Kreis Soest e. V. (ABU). Furthermore, the ABU is the entity in our group to take over biological preliminary investigations and monitoring of all action blocks of the LIFE+ project, i. e. it observes and scientifically collects data on the development of animal and plant species as well as on their habitats.
